The plea was a final, desperate offering, a testament to her willingness to let go, to surrender to something greater than herself. She was ready to be sober. She was ready for an answer. She just didn't know if it would come, or in what form. The old town road stretched before her, a dark, uncertain path, and for the first time, Elara felt a flicker of anticipation, a sense of an unknown destination waiting just beyond the veil of the night.
