…The iridescent light intensified, swirling around me, pushing back against the sonic waves. Thorne took a step back, his movements no longer fluid, but jerky, uncertain. His visor flickered, revealing a brief glimpse of a human eye, wide with a dawning, unwelcome recognition. He had come to destroy, to erase, to enforce his masters' will. But he had underestimated the power of the past, and the resilience of its keeper. The hunter had found his prey, but in doing so, he had inadvertently stirred the guardian of the archives into a desperate, and perhaps, revolutionary act. The gambit had begun.
