…He met Thorne’s triumphant gaze, a steely resolve hardening his own. He had lost the battle, but the war was far from over. He had been betrayed, wounded, but not broken. The Island of Lost Souls, and its secret, were still out there, and he would not let Thorne, or Seraphina, claim them. He would find a way to protect it, even if it meant sacrificing everything. The weariness was still there, but now, it was tempered by a fierce, protective anger, a new purpose born from the ashes of betrayal. He would not let them desecrate the sacred. He would ensure the island’s special nature remained hidden, a secret buried deep within the heart of the forgotten sea.
