…He stood up, the movement slow and deliberate. He walked to the window, his reflection staring back at him, a stranger in a gilded cage. The rain continued to fall, washing over the city, but it could never wash away the rot. He was the architect of this house of rain. And he was about to decide its fate. The choice was his. To build it higher, stronger, on a foundation of lies and fear, or to let it crumble, brick by painstaking brick, and risk being buried in the debris. The silence of the penthouse was broken only by the relentless drumming of the rain, a constant reminder of the deluge that awaited him, whatever path he chose.
