…As the sounds of our victory echoed through the tunnels, a sense of a new beginning settled over us. The fear that had permeated the air was slowly being replaced by a fragile, yet potent, hope. Ugly Erik, the embodiment of the Colors’ brute force, had fallen. And in his place, a new force was rising. The force of a people who had finally decided to fight for their freedom. The fight was far from over, but for the first time in a long time, we had won a battle. And the taste of victory, even in the dust and grime of the mines, was sweeter than anything I had ever known.
