…The surface of Mars stretched out before me, a desolate, unforgiving landscape. But for the first time since I’d pulled Melissa’s legs, I didn’t see an ending. I saw a beginning. The wind, a mournful sigh across the plains, seemed to carry the echoes of a thousand silenced voices, and with them, a nascent promise of a future where those voices would sing, not in sorrow, but in triumph. The first spark had been struck. And I would fan it into a conflagration. The Colors would learn the true meaning of fear.
