…“We’re in this together. Now, about this ritual…” She turned her gaze back to the box, its dark surface seeming to pulse with a malevolent energy. The fight was far from over, but for the first time in days, Maya felt a flicker of hope. They had acknowledged the threat, they had begun to bridge the chasm the box had created between them, and that, she knew, was the only way to begin to break its hold. The artifact’s power lay in their isolation, their fear, their discord. By choosing unity, by choosing trust, they were beginning to starve it. The question that remained was whether that would be enough.
