…“Trouble?” Noah’s voice was a low rumble, devoid of surprise. It was as if he’d expected this. The shadowy entity recoiled slightly from the lantern’s light, the whispers faltering for a moment. Liam felt a flicker of hope. “Who the hell are you?” Liam demanded, his voice shaky. “And what is that thing?” Noah stepped fully into the room, his gaze sweeping over the journal, the amulets, and the lingering presence of the entity. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk touched his lips. “Just an acquaintance,” Noah said, his eyes meeting Liam’s. “And that,” he gestured with the lantern towards the dissipating shadow, “is the welcoming committee.”
