The latch, stiff with age, finally gave way with a protesting squeal. As the lid creaked open, a faint, ethereal light seemed to emanate from within, casting long, dancing shadows across the room. Eleanor’s form shimmered, her sorrowful expression tinged with a fragile hope. The contents of the box lay before them, waiting to reveal a story that had been silenced for far too long.
