It had sounded like something, or someone, was already there. And as the darkness deepened, Rachel couldn’t shake the feeling that they weren’t entirely alone in their new, dream house. The first night in their fresh start had begun with a creaking floorboard, a sound that whispered of secrets and unsettled histories, a sound that promised their new beginning might be far more complicated than they had ever imagined.
