…The mystery of Raymond Sanner’s store, its warmth, its generosity, its eventual failure, had always haunted me. Now, this new mystery, this spectral encounter with my long-lost family, had woven itself into that legacy. It was a riddle wrapped in an enigma, a question mark hanging in the air, as vast and as profound as time itself. The nature of time, I realized, was far more fluid, far more mysterious, than I had ever dared to imagine. And I was left with the unsettling certainty that some doors, once opened, could never be fully closed.
