…He quickly looked away, his heart thudding against his ribs. He focused on the passing scenery, trying to regain his composure. This was just Bob, his friend. This was just a bus ride. Nothing had changed, not really. But as he stole another glance at Bob, who was now humming along to the tinny music coming from someone’s headphones, Jhon knew, with a quiet certainty, that something had changed. The great awesome quest, whatever it might turn out to be, had just begun, and it had started with a broken-down car and a familiar face on a very ordinary bus. The adventure, it seemed, was not just out there in the world, but right here, in the quiet space between two friends.
