…Bob just smiled, a little confused, and turned back to the window. Jhon felt a wave of heat wash over his face, a blush of embarrassment and regret. He’d chickened out. Again. The words he’d so desperately wanted to say, the feelings he’d so desperately wanted to share, remained trapped inside him, a silent, aching weight. He looked out the window, the passing scenery a blur of grey buildings and indifferent streets, and the grand adventure he craved felt further away than ever. The bus rumbled on, carrying him towards a day that promised to be just like any other, a day where his heart’s unspoken desires remained securely locked away, a secret he carried alone.
