…His father knelt and pulled him into a hug. Glimmer squirmed between them and let out a small chirp. "Of course you will," his father said. "Now go. Take care of your friend. And remember — you are braver than you know." He stood up, turned, and walked back toward the village without looking back. Leo watched him go until he was just a small shape in the distance. Then he tucked the whistle into his pocket, beside the map stone, and turned toward the woods. The path was narrow and overgrown, but it was there. And somewhere beyond it, the mountains waited. "Come on, Glimmer," Leo said. "Let's go home." Glimmer chirped happily, and they stepped into the forest together.
