…Somewhere, far beyond the Whispering Woods, in a place that existed only in shadow and nightmare, a legion of entities stirred in their slumber. Their ancient Master was in despair. And when their Master despaired… the Ghost Empire would awaken. Ren remained huddled beneath the roots of the oak, oblivious to the cosmic stirrings he had inadvertently set in motion. The wood sprite, sensing the shift, finally turned and melted back into the undergrowth, its silent vigil concluded. Ren was left alone once more, with only the mud, the chill, and the gnawing emptiness. The scars of Oakhaven were etched deep, and the boy who had once saved them was slowly, inexorably, breaking.
