He turned to look at Anya and Lena. Their faces were lit by the glow, soft and determined. He felt the bond pulse, a heartbeat between them. “Together,” he said. “Together,” they echoed. He opened the door, and they stepped through, into the arms of the first word, and into whatever question awaited them next. The lights behind them swirled, then settled, and the space became still again, holding the echo of their answer. And in that stillness, a single thought lingered, warm and quiet: They are coming.
