Her voice was small, uncertain. She looked up as they entered. "You're here," she said. "I've been waiting." Elias knelt. "Waiting for what?" "For someone to tell me it's okay to stop being afraid." The lullaby hung in the air, unfinished. And behind the child, a crack formed in the wall—a thin line of darkness, growing wider.
