…The artifact, now cleansed, pulsed with a soft, steady light, its power pure and benevolent. The great oak, too, seemed to sigh, its bruised bark regaining a healthy, vibrant green. The suffocating stillness lifted, replaced by the sweet, clean air of a forest beginning to breathe again. Branden, exhausted but triumphant, sank to his knees, his gaze fixed on the transformed artifact and the peacefully resting stag, its form now that of a slumbering, ancient guardian, finally at rest. The battle was won, but the weight of the fallen spirit, the tragic embodiment of the forest's suffering, settled heavily on his heart.
