…Rain nodded, a subtle shift in his posture indicating a new level of commitment. "Then welcome to the fight. We start tomorrow. For now, get some rest. You've earned it." As I followed Kelly to a small, spartan room designated for our makeshift quarters, the image of the ocean currents Star had described replayed in my mind. Light and shadow, hope and despair. I was standing at the edge of a vast, dark ocean, but for the first time since the lights went out, I felt like I might be able to learn to swim. The storm was far from over, but I was no longer adrift. I had found a crew, and a flicker of my own light, however small, had begun to burn.
