…"Enough," the figure said. Vex's eyes narrowed. "Traitor." "I'm no traitor. I'm the one who sees the truth." The white-cloaked figure stood over KJ, staff ready. "And this one is under my protection." "You cannot protect him forever." "I don't need forever. I just need long enough." The white-cloaked figure slammed the staff into the ground. Golden light erupted, forming a dome around them. The guardians backed away, shielding their eyes. When the light faded, the street was empty. KJ and the white-cloaked figure were gone.
