…He looked at the Chronos Shard, then out into the shadowed reaches of the ancient chamber. The air still hummed with a faint, residual energy. He tightened his grip on the artifact, a new resolve hardening in his gaze. He had the truth. Now, he had to make the world see it too. He had to confront the Aethelgard, with their idealized, incomplete history, and the Umbrae, with their bitter, equally distorted narrative. He had to make them reconcile their beliefs with the complicated, agonizing reality he now carried within him. The reckoning was coming. And he, the Eon-Bound, now truly knew why.
