…I walked towards the door, the diary held tightly in my hand. He stood frozen, his face a mask of disbelief and fury. “I’m not my mother,” I said, turning back to face him. “And I’m not going to live a life where love diminishes me. I deserve more. I deserve to feel whole.” I opened the door, the cool evening air a welcome embrace. The path ahead was uncertain, a winding road shrouded in mist, but for the first time in a long time, I felt I was walking it on my own terms. The echoes of my mother’s wisdom, found in the locked diary, had finally shown me the way out of the silence.
