…Mallory's hand went to the locket, now cold again. The door behind her hummed, and she felt a pull—a desperate, yearning pull, as if something on the other side was calling her name. She turned back to the keyhole, her heart hammering. "Mallory, don't," Desmond pleaded. "We need to leave. Now." But her fingers moved of their own accord, pressing the locket against the door's lock. There was a click, and the door swung open, revealing a darkness so complete it seemed to swallow the light. From within came a child's voice, clear and plaintive: "Mallory... you came." And behind her, the ghost let out a wail that shook the tower to its foundations.
