The Day the Van Turned Green

…I smiled, the purple steering wheel cool beneath my hands. "Exactly. Sometimes, an accident is just the start of a really good story. And I think our purple van is going to have a lot more stories to tell." As we pulled into my driveway, the purple van gleamed under the porch light, a beacon of unexpected joy. It wasn't the van I'd started the day with, and it certainly wasn't the van the gnome had intended. But it was our van, and it was fabulous. And as Barnaby and I climbed out, ready for whatever tomorrow might bring, I knew one thing for sure: life, much like our van, was far more interesting when it was a little bit unexpected, a little bit colourful, and a whole lot of fun.
