…Gable. He realized that his mom needed friends too, just like he needed Sam. It didn’t mean she loved Dad any less, or that she loved Leo any less. It just meant that love could grow and spread out, like ripples on a pond. And it was okay for Mom to have other friends. It was okay for him to have other friends too. He still missed Dad, of course, but the ache wasn’t quite so sharp. He knew Dad would be home soon. And when he was, he’d be happy to hear about Buster, the hero dog, and Mrs. Gable, the kind new friend who helped find a lost little boy. The world felt a little bigger, and a little warmer, and Leo drifted off to sleep, a small smile on his face.
