Katja had pored over their belongings, their journals, searching for any hint of unease, any premonition of the abyss that awaited them. There was none. Only joy, anticipation, and the innocent belief in a carefree vacation. Were they truly gone? Lost to the earth, to the ancient magic that pulsed beneath the canyon’s skin?
