…Eleanor reached the top of the stairs and slammed the bedroom door shut, locking it. She leaned against it, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Outside, the house groaned, and somewhere below, the creature began to climb. She looked at the journal in her hands, at the words that held the secret to breaking the curse. But now, there was more at stake than just her life. Julian was dead. The creature was hunting her. And Silas, the man who had created this nightmare, was still watching. A new voice, cold and distant, whispered from the shadows: "This is only the beginning, Eleanor." She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, the room was silent.
