…The kingdom, my kingdom, stretched out before me, a land I had sworn to protect. And in that moment, the gentle hands of a humble cobbler, the stormy depths of his eyes, and the veiled threats of a distant king converged, forcing me to confront a truth I had been trying to outrun: my heart, it seemed, had a duty all its own. And that duty, I was beginning to suspect, might be far more dangerous, and far more vital, than any crown. The whispers had become a storm, and I knew, with a certainty that both terrified and invigorated me, that I could no longer remain on the sidelines. The cobbler’s kiss, if it ever came, would be paid for in more than just coin. It would be paid for in courage.
