…“Ed,” she said softly, her words meant only for him. “A new path opens—one that remembers old friends…and dangers. Be ready. Your courage will soon be tested.” Before Ed could ask more, Mystica melted into shadow, her message hanging like a riddle in the sunlit air. Layia, noticing Ed’s thoughtful gaze, tugged at his hand. “Are we going on an adventure? With my shield?” Ed smiled, though questions danced behind his gentle eyes. “Brave warriors never know when their next quest will call.” Layia beamed, clutching her shield as the villagers cheered. For now, hope and sunlight filled the square—and somewhere in the shadows, mysteries waited, ready to be discovered.
