…A noise from downstairs, a sharp call, made me jump. My grandmother’s voice, stern and commanding. “Come down here, child! Supper is ready.” I clutched the teddy bear, my heart sinking. Supper. A meal shared with strangers. I didn’t know what to expect, but the coldness I had already felt promised a meal that would nourish the body, but starve the soul. With a sigh, I placed the teddy bear back in the suitcase, closed the lid, and stood up. The journey had ended, but the real adventure, the one I hadn't asked for, was just beginning. And it felt like an adventure into a land where love was a forgotten language.
