The case was closed, the artifact was safe, and her partner, for all his outlandish theories and clumsy enthusiasm, was exactly where he belonged. She took another sip of her espresso, the taste of adventure and impending sugar rush mingling in the air. It was, she decided, a perfect ending. Or perhaps, just the beginning of another.
