…He felt a searing pain, a tearing sensation that stole his breath. The world tilted, the yellow walls spinning into a chaotic vortex. The buzzing, which had been his constant tormentor, now receded, replaced by the roaring in his ears and the sickening thud of his own body hitting the stained carpet. His hand, still outstretched, brushed against the cold, unyielding metal of the door, a final, futile gesture of escape. The crimson lights of the creature’s eyes were the last thing he saw, burning into his consciousness before the world, and Arthur, dissolved into the oppressive yellow. The silence that followed was, for the first time, truly silent.
