…Before he could even form a scream, a limb, impossibly long and impossibly fast, lashed out from the absolute blackness. It was a blur of something slick and dark, ending in a cluster of sharp, chitinous protrusions. It struck with a force that Arthur couldn't comprehend, a sickening crunch echoing in the sudden, terrifying silence. Arthur's world, already teetering on the brink of dissolution, imploded. His last sensation was not of pain, but of a profound, absolute emptiness, as the blinding yellow, the maddening buzz, and the terrifying darkness, all dissolved into nothingness.
