…"Well," I said, forcing a brittle smile. "She’ll have to get over it. I’m not going back there." Jecka’s smile was soft, a little sad. "I know you're not." She squeezed my hand again. "And you're not alone, Luna. You know that, right?" I looked at her, at the genuine warmth in her eyes, and for the first time all day, the familiar panic began to recede. The pills in my backpack felt a little less urgent, the darkness a little less all-consuming. Maybe, just maybe, I wasn't entirely a lost cause.
