…Feng put a comforting hand on Lin’s arm. “We’ll find her, Lin. We will. And when we do, we’ll have a lot of stories to tell. And perhaps,” she added, a glint in her eye, “we’ll have a few more giggling spices to share with her.” Lin managed a genuine, though still slightly watery, smile. “You know what? I think she’d like that. She always did have a weakness for a good laugh. Especially when it’s at someone else’s expense.” And with that, the two friends turned and plunged deeper into the enchanted woods, the faint scent of sugar and suppressed mirth still clinging to the air, their quest for Sheng far from over, but their spirits, despite the ticklish ordeal, surprisingly light.
