…Daniel groaned, a low, guttural sound of pure despair. “Milkah, no. Absolutely not. She’s my colleague. We’re just colleagues.” “Colleagues who will soon be something much more!” I announced, ignoring his protests. “Don’t worry, darling, I’ll handle this.” I stood up, a triumphant glint in my eye. “Brenda, it’s been a pleasure. Daniel, darling, I’ll be back with a plan.” As I sashayed towards Sarah’s table, Daniel buried his face in his hands, muttering something that sounded suspiciously like, “Save me.” Operation: Awkward Introductions had just entered its most ambitious, and potentially most mortifying, phase. And I, Milkah, was ready to rumble.
