…Leo didn't need telling twice. He sprinted towards the blue portal, the monster roaring behind him, its heavy footsteps shaking the very ground. The cat was a shadow at his heels. Just as he reached the shimmering threshold, he glanced back. The beast was lunging, its jaws agape. With a final, desperate leap, Leo and the cat plunged into the blue light. The world dissolved into a maelstrom of color and sensation, the roar of the monster fading into a distant echo as the portal swallowed them whole. He didn't know where they were going, but for the first time since stepping through that first shimmering anomaly, Leo wasn't entirely alone.
