…Lily nodded, her eyes shining. Adam stood, his legs trembling but his heart steady. "When do we leave?" "At dawn," Grandmother said. "Rest now. The path ahead will not be gentle." Her form began to dissolve back into the pool, the light fading. The cavern dimmed until only the crystals remained. Eve turned to them, her face grave. "You heard her. We have until sunrise. Prepare—and pray." Adam looked at his mother, at Lily, at Miriam and Gabriel. He touched the crystal in his pocket—the one Samael had given him. It felt warm, as if it were alive. Somewhere in the Obsidian Vale, his father waited. And dawn was coming.
