…Miriam nodded. "Take me to her. I will reveal everything I know." Adam looked at his mother, at Lily, at the silver-haired stranger who had brought him the news he had never dared to hope for. His father was alive. And there was a path to him that did not end in a grave. "Let's go," he said. "I need to know how to save him." They walked together, deeper into the heart of the wizard world, leaving the courtyard behind. But as they moved, a new figure appeared at the edge of the garden—a figure with eyes like burning coals, watching from the shadows. It did not follow. It simply watched. And then it vanished, leaving only the scent of smoke behind.
