…The crystal in his pocket pulsed again, stronger this time. A voice—Samael’s voice—whispered in his mind: Come to the Obsidian Vale. Time is running out. But now he understood. Samael wasn’t his ally. He was after the same power that had killed Kael. Adam turned to Gabriel. “Take me to Eve. I need to know everything. And I need to learn how to protect them.” Gabriel nodded. “Then follow me.” As they walked through the courtyard, a shadow flickered at the edge of the nearest column—a shape that vanished when Adam turned to look. Someone was watching. And they had seen everything.
