…Eve’s spear vanished. She placed a hand on Adam’s shoulder. “No. We bought time. The Silent One is bound, but his master still waits. The Gathering must still happen. The other princes must be warned.” Adam looked at the sealed dais. “Then we warn them.” Kael and David moved to join them, their expressions grim but relieved. David clapped Adam on the back. “Not bad for a mortal-born prince.” Adam laughed, weary but whole. “Let’s go home.” They turned from the crystal tomb and began the long walk out of the valley. But as they left, a whisper threaded through the air, so faint only Adam heard it: “The web is not undone. It is merely rewoven.”
