He looked at the silent wands, at the tree visible through the broken window, at his mother’s face. The scroll in his belt felt heavier, but the warmth of Ally’s hand and the truth of his lineage rooted him. “Then I will,” he said. “But first, we face the Silent One.” Eve turned toward the door, her silver hair catching the starlight. “Yes. And we will need more than wands for that.”
