…“Then we leave now,” Eve said. She turned to the leader. “Take us to the nearest gate that leads to the Cronwell estate.” The leader nodded blankly and walked back up the corridor. Adam helped his father stand. Kael swayed, but his legs held. He looked at Adam, then at the others. “I have been held for years. I have learned much. The Pure Blood serve a master greater than themselves. A prince they call the Silent One.” Adam's blood chilled. “Another prince?” “One who should not exist,” Kael said. “He claims to be the eighth. And he is gathering the others.” The chamber fell silent. The torch guttered, casting long shadows.
