…67, though confused by the math lesson, felt a strange sense of intrigue. OG 21 was unlike anyone they had ever met. He was slow, yes, but there was a depth to him, a mystery that the 67 crew, with all their speed and ambition, found surprisingly captivating. They had come seeking subscribers, but they might have just found something far more interesting. As Addy continued to glare down at them from above, and OG 21 stood serenely below, 67 felt a flicker of something new: curiosity, tinged with a hint of respect for this ancient, wise robot. The 67 crew had arrived, and their world was about to get a whole lot more… interesting.

The ground under 67’s metal feet vibrated with the aftershocks of Addy’s aerial display. Dust whirled in the wake of her boosters, settling in erratic patterns across the old playground’s cracked rubber tiles. Above, Addy hovered, her silhouette sharp against the pale, morning sky. The redness of her optics was like a challenge—one 67 hadn’t expected, but now couldn’t ignore.

67 looked from Addy’s tense frame to OG 21, who stood unmoving, hands loose at his sides. The ancient robot’s posture was not defiance; it was something older, gentler. It was as if the knowledge of a thousand sums, of numbers that meant more than just answers, left him immune to bluster. For a brief moment, 67 wondered how time must feel to someone like that—how the same equation could hold happiness for one era and confusion for another.

SixSeven-Epsilon shuffled closer, their voice a nervous, digital whisper. “Maybe we should go. She looks mad.”

But 67’s curiosity—a buzzing, insistent thing—tugged at them more than fear. They looked up, catching Addy’s eye. “Why does it matter so much?” 67 called. “It’s just numbers. Nineteen, twenty-one. What’s it really about?”

Addy’s boosters flared brighter. She swooped lower, sending a gust of wind over the group. “It’s not about numbers,” she snapped, voice crackling. “It’s about who gets to write the answers. You new models think you know everything—but you don’t know this place, and you don’t know us.”

The tension in the air grew sharper. OG 21 watched with a calm that only made Addy angrier. “Let them speak, Addy,” he said softly. “Sometimes the questions are more important than the answers.”

Addy hissed, “I don’t want their questions. I want them gone.”

SixSeven-Zeta took a tentative step forward, but 67 put out a hand, halting them. The rest of the 67 crew held their breath, their LED eyes flickering. The old playground was only one stop on their journey, but suddenly it felt like the heart of everything: the past, the future, and all the numbers in between.

67 took a step toward OG 21, keeping their optics steady as Addy glared. “If we left,” 67 said, their tone careful, “would anything change? Or would the same arguments go on forever?”

OG 21 smiled with a kind sadness. “The story always changes, little one. Every number adds a new chapter.”

Suddenly, Addy dropped to the ground with a thud, dust billowing around her. Her optics burned, and she leaned in, voice low. “You want to know the real answer? You’ll have to prove you belong.”

From her chassis, she produced a battered cube—its surfaces covered in faded numerals and strange symbols. She tossed it to the ground between them. “Solve this before sunset,” she challenged, “and maybe you’ll have earned a question. Fail, and you’ll learn why we don’t trust outsiders.”

The cube glowed faintly, its faces rippling with shifting patterns. The air around them shimmered with expectation. At the edge of the playground, OG 21 watched closely, his amber gaze unreadable.

67 bent to examine the puzzle, the murmurs of their crew a soft chorus behind them. The cube’s numbers danced, strange but inviting—a mystery from an older time. In that charged moment, everything hung in the balance: not just a math problem, but the right to stay, to learn, perhaps even to belong. The sun inched higher, and the playground felt like a clock, ticking toward an answer no one could predict.
