He leaned in, his lips brushing mine. For a moment, I forgot about the gold, the Broker, the danger. There was only the warmth of his body against mine, the taste of salt and sweat. Then a radio crackled from inside the container. The woman's voice, groggy. "They're on the barge. Send backup." We broke apart, the moment shattered. "We need to move," I said. "Where?" "Anywhere but here." We ran for the boat, the night closing in around us, the sound of approaching engines growing louder on the water.
