…Lyra looked at her hands, still tingling with residual energy. The crystal’s light began to recede, its hum softening. “I think,” she said, a grim smile touching her lips, “I just found the ancient weapon.” She looked back at the entrance, the blizzard still raging outside. “And it looks like I found our way out too.” The etchings on the wall, once crude symbols, now seemed to shimmer with a faint light, revealing a hidden passage behind the crystal. The path ahead was still perilous, but for the first time since fleeing Alysia Prime, Lyra felt a flicker of true, unyielding hope.
