…He just had to find it before the light went out for good. The wagon rolled through the citadel gates, and the shadow of the walls swallowed them whole. A voice echoed from above, sharp and ceremonial: “The binding ritual will commence at dawn. Prepare the vessel.” Kaito’s eyes snapped open. Dawn. That was only hours away. He turned to Hikari. “We don’t have three days.” Her face paled. “What do we do?” Kaito looked at the collar, at the runes that glowed faintly in the dim light. He didn’t know the answer. But for the first time, he realized the demon lord’s curse might not be a burden. It might be the only weapon he had left. The wagon stopped, and the lock clicked open.
