He looked at the grateful faces around him, at the shimmering oasis, and then up at the sky, where the stars had once been his only guide. He knew, with a certainty that settled deep in his young camel heart, that the desert, though vast and sometimes fearsome, held wonders and wisdom for those brave enough to seek them.
