…It was a revolutionary idea, one that went against every fiber of my being, every lesson learned in the hard school of experience. But as I listened to Nathaniel’s voice, so steady, so genuine, so utterly present, a tiny crack appeared in the fortress of my skepticism. It wasn’t a gaping hole, not yet, but it was a start.
