…I had to actively seek a way out, to become the water he spoke of, finding my own path, my own escape. The streets had shown me their teeth, but for the first time, I felt a stirring of defiance, a quiet resolve to carve out a different destiny, one that wasn’t dictated by the concrete jungle. The echo of Red’s absence would remain, a haunting melody, but perhaps, with Tau’s guidance, I could learn to compose a new song, a song of survival and, dare I hope, of freedom. The path ahead was uncertain, shrouded in the same mystery that had swallowed Red, but for the first time in a long time, I felt a surge of determination. I wouldn't let the South Side win.
